Marianne Crosses Over To The Blake Sea

The smallest member of the Bay City family (one off..there might be smaller), Marianne McCann, has written history, again. This time by flying from Hau Koda, Bay City, to Hollywood in the Blake Sea in one go!

She was the first to go from Hetrocera to Jeogeot, a journey that would not be possible without Bellisseria.

The continent of Bellisseria was bulging slowly towards the continent of Satori. With each generation of Linden Homes the connection became nearer.

Finally, on Tuesday March the 30th, the connection between Bellisseria and Sarori happened. That was the moment our small explorer waited for. She stepped into her trusty PA-18 Super Cub to take off from Hau Koda. A large bag of cookies accompanied her during the first legs of the voyage.

After what seemed like a very long time she passed the snowlands in Obersdorf.

She crossed the barren lands just before crossing into Bellisseria.

Carefully manoeuvring without a functional map she moved over nameless sims, that some call a region.

Slowly but surely towards better known lands. Then she crossed over to Satori!

It was a long and dangerous flight over Satori, many orbs and skyboxes had to be avoided. Until the safe skies of Nautilus came to sight.

The goal so near, the bag of cookies eaten and the fuel low the last leg was a scary one. The engine started fluttering, kept alive, just.

At Hollywood Airport she set down her Piper Cub. A small crowd of locals cheered her to the parking place. The harbour authorities started searching for contraband but the bag of cookies was empty.

She shouted "Scuse Me! Where is a toilet!" pushed away the stunned crowd and ran off.

She crossed 279 sims (some call regions), had to fight off one security orb, stumbled over one region, and had to hold (...) for two hours. All this without a functioning map.

City Authorities have send a telegraph message congratulating Marianne and have offered to contribute towards one cup of airport root beer.

Epilogue

If you talk about Bellisseria the discussion often moves towards mainland and the (lack of) attention it receives from Linden Lab.
After a number of discussions about this it becomes time to say it out loud.

Linden Lab has stopped caring for the mainland.

In the olden days, not so long ago, moles were working on improving the mainland in various ways.

They dived into the deep seas to plant weeds and set free fish. They set out routes and build an infra-structure increasing the value of the attached land. Regions appeared at places where SL sailing was difficult.

What's that with mainland?

Mainland *is* Second Life!

Mainland makes from Second Life a World! A world to explore and discover. It gives dimension, width and length. It allows people to own part of the world by buying a plot of land. It is a place to meet random people.

Mainland can be explored, by boat, car or airplane. Try doing that on a sim.

Linden Lab and the moles used to improve things. fill a void, make it better. Make it worth exploring.

The emptiness of mainland is probably because Linden Lab has forgotten about it. They want the BIG spenders that want an expensive sim and if you can't afford a sim you have to go to Bellisseria, the poor peoples refuge.

It appears as if Linden Lab wants people to move out of mainland and move them to Bellisseria, since that is what is happening. Mainland becomes more and more a wasteland. Empty. Home for grievers.

I bet there are hundreds of completely empty mainland regions. Completely empty. Not a single prim.
Empty is empty is dead.

Long time ago at a beach I knew well, there suddenly were beach chairs, a surfboard, and a cooler with drinks. Oh, and a rezzone. Just like that. Nobody asked for it but it was suddenly there. Making that beach alive.

Editor Vick Forcella
Mainland is loved by so many, except by Linden Lab and I am so sad about that.

It is even so that some fear to talk about this. They feel forced to cheer and applaud the moles and Linden Lab.Fear to express critique about mainland.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against Bellisseria, I love it. But mainland is ignored and forgotten by the moles and Linden Lab. Those that claim that Bellisseria is mainland, try and buy land at Bellisseria and build a house there.
Now that I have this heavy load of my chest, thank you for reading the Bay City Post.
Send your love towards your reporters that made it possible, Thomas, Dakota, Qie and Marianne. Some love for me would be nice too. Thank you.

The Battle For SSPE1171

Many moons ago our explorer Kenny (Kennlylex Luckless) named a region Wolfington. Kenny has tried to name other regions, not with much success.

This month Kenny discovered the region SSPE1171.

And, as so often, he named the region (tried to).
If I could build a fort here it would be called Wulfenburg -kl
Tish (Laetizia Coronet) replied with "You can't name everything after yourself. This shall be Coronet Island."
Later she put words into action by going to the island,
This shall not be Wulfenstein, or Wulfenburg. This is Monte Laetizia. -lc
She added strength to her words a day later,
"Here we are again on Monte Laetizia. It's true, I did not bring a flag..."
...because I don't need a flag! -lc
This display of military power to claim land in Bellisseria had to be answered by the greatest pyromaniac living in our Fine City, Marianne McCann.
Greetings from... no, not Monte Laetizia, and not Wulfenburg... it's clearly McCann Mountain! -mm
Followed with this ominous image,
Tanks? No tanks on McCann Mountain. It makes my little friend here angry. -mm
Yes, you have seen right. She is holding a BIG bomb!

Tish went to the island to reclaim the claim that already was claimed.
Outstanding, Red Team, outstanding! Getcha a case of beer for that one. -lc
But,, then the bomb did it's destructive work,
DRAT! -lc
"Message from Second Life:
Your object 'Ka-29TB HELIX sng zulu 16 v1.18' has been returned to your inventory Lost and Found folder by Linden Department of Public Works from parcel 'Protected Land' at SSPE1170 249, 93 due to parcel auto return."

Kenny, seeing that the bomb has been defused immediately rushed to his island.
Operation Bad Wolf -kl

Operation Bad Wolf, ongoing with no resistance. -kl
Now that I have re-captured Wulfburg, maybe I shall claim it for the L.D.P.W and call it Mount Mole-Mole. -kl
Marianne can keep this part, the West Hill is a bit crummy. -kl

Shortly after, due to a navigation error, Kenny invaded the living room of a private house with his tank and got booted.

It is yet undecided what the name of the region will be.

Proclamation Emperor Michael I, Re: Bellisseria Content

PROCLAMATION

"

Citizens of our Fine City!

Time and time again the city workers (Lindens and Moles) surface parts of the continent of Bellisseria.
As the land comes upwards and the water flows away new and old residents can find new places to live or have their vacation houses there.

The new continent looks amazing! Not as good as Bay City, off course, but it is very pleasing to the eye.

I brings back the memory of the moles running around surfaced new continents planting, laying roads, build buildings. Making the planes, the hills and mountains, the lakes, the seas and oceans more pleasing to the eye, laying foundations for future development by residents.

The moles made available, for each new developed land, packs of goodies so that residents can continue work in the style of the moles. In rare occasions we found new items in the Library, hidden deep in our inventory. Next to roads we find free-to-copy items, making some of us right-click addicts.

We found plants and trees, wallpapers and textures, a complete vortex, lamps, houses, stones, squids and fish, flies and butterflies. Even a beach ball!

The content is used to improve our private homes. Decorate our land. Help us with building. Some of the best scripts can be found inside Library objects. Jump on the trampoline, or push a domino.

Bellisseria is different.

Nothing has been made available!

People want to use the new plants, the grass, the rocks, the sheds, the sandcastles. To decorate the homes and lands outside Bellisseria. It is made available to the residents of Bellisseria, to enjoy, to look at.

But the people outside Bellisseria suffer.
To use similar decorations they must spend a fortune. Trees, grass and rocks don't come cheep! We use the sculpty rocks, the primmy library trees and grass. We light our houses and sewers with the lanterns found next to the road.

I call upon the city workers, Lindens and Moles, to make available decorational objects from Bellisseria for everybody to use!
To improve the lands outside Bellisseria, to improve our Fine City!
If you encounter a city worker, ask them for Bellisserian Goodies. You deserve it.

This is what I proclaim, this is what loyal citizens in my name will do!

"

Signed,

"Michael I, Emperor of Bay City"

Welcome to the eightysixth edition of the Bay City Post!

Epilogue

Previous edition is available here.
Last month Dakota Schwade visited Ukiyo. You can find a subway there.
The owner of that place, Joji BlueBird, has requested to give landmarks of interesting places where the subway can go to so that it can become a hub for visitors.
Give the subway a trial and give Joji your landmarks and description.
One of the places I discovered from riding the subway in Ukiyo is the BayCity Space Program. I never knew we had that. Read all about it on the community forum. JonathonSpires is the science person behind the space program. One day soon Bay City will fly to the moon and claim ownership.
Last month we reported that Torley no longer works for Linden Lab. Our investigations have revealed that our inspirational inspirer is now (again) working for Sansar that has been taken over by Wookey Projects Inc. We wish him all the very best and hope, no, expect that he remains a supporter of our Fine City. We will remain confident that Sansar will fulfill it's promise.
Due to the reported mesh leakage, that is wreaking havoc around the world, the Eurovision song contest will not go through this year. Despite that, Iceland would have had our votes! Thank you Torley for your prediction.
The Bellisseria Community (now in hibernation) has reported a new website and initiative to cater for the Bellisserian community. It's name Bellisseria Life. Give it a visit.
It has come to the attention of Emperor Michael that a lot of community efforts of Bellisseria appear to fail after a short while. He expresses his support to all community initiatives to unite Bellisserians so they can party just as wild as the residents of our Fine City. He also requests sewers and public shelters for him to (hide) reside at.
Perhaps Bellisseria is just too big to unite everyone, perhaps people should unite by region or build type. The campers, the boaters, the Edwardians, the loggers etc.

Bay City Finest To Bellisseria

It has been noticed that the natives in Bellisseria are lacking a bit of culture. They party a lot but are missing something essential to make the parties better, more explosive.
Filling the tanker truck

The Cultural Exchange Committee of our Fine city came to the conclusion that a volunteer had to bring them the best Bay City has to offer, Bay City Brew (tm). With this offer of our finest it is expected that the ties between Bay City and Bellisseria will improve a lot, and that the parties will go just as wild as in Bay City.
Lining up with the barge

Vick Forcella, a relatively unknown citizen of our Fine city, was pointed out as the volunteer to bring Bay City Brew to the natives in Bellisseria. The rationale used is that he has won, at the auction, an Infinity tanker truck with sufficient capacity and that he has experience as a janitor bringing coffee to Roc Plutonian.
Barge loaded

Reluctantly he took on this task. Roc did not blackmail him with "those' pictures nobody knows about.
Barge being pushed

The voyage towards Bellisseria took two days of travel. Many problems had to be resolved during the ride one of the biggest problems is, our Fine city has no road connection to Bellisseria. Between Bay City and Mainland Sansara is no paved road available, between Sansara and Bellisseria is only water.
Pushing barge goes wrong

The Bay City Brew donated it's best brew for this friendly cause. After loading the tanker truck, painted with the Bay City Brew logo, Vick took off.
En route

To cross the waters a giant barge was used that had to be pushed by a tug (push) boat. Immediately at the harbor at New Port things went wrong. The barge can not be steered and the push boat was a bit too strong, some boats that were moored there had their paint scraped off. Lucky no boat was sunk and the tanker truck didn't fall off the barge.
Off loading at Cowell

Just after Abbotts, at Cowell, the barge was unloaded and after demolishing some shrubbery the truck found a paved road. Things went a lot faster driving on the roads.
Driving through Sansara

The mission nearly stopped at the winterlands as the truck wasn't equipped with snow chains. The tires slipped dangerously while taking a slope.
Most bridges didn't cause problems except the bridge at Miller where traffic had to be stopped to let the truck pass, very very slowly.
Tight bridge at Miller

When the evening came Vick slept in the cabin after drinking some culture out of the tanker truck.
Arrival at Bellisseria

The next day the only way to reach the water is to go extreme off-roading. The truck was loaded on the barge again and was pushed to Norse Auk on the edge of Bellisseria where the truck was unloaded into the secret tank inside the lighthouse.
Ready to unload

Soon the natives gathered around the lighthouse and filled their cans with the best Bay City Culture could offer.
Unloading Bay City Brew

Representatives from Bellisseria expressed eternal great gratitude towards Bay City.
