Bay City Cruis'n

Some days I think to myself, "I need a new car."

Which is usually followed by, "I need a new car?"

After a bit of back and forth in this manner I typically give in and wander about "window shopping" to see what is available.

What's on the other side of these windows?

Two wheels. Three wheels. Four wheels. Amphibious. Somewhat military. I like the Boogie Buggy the most.

The manufacturer promises high quality, low land impact and smooth cross-border performance.

And there's a rezzer for test drives, along with a small cafe in the back so you can have a place to calmly decide which vehicle suits you.
The SUMI Vehicles cafe provides mostly donuts. However, I was looking for something else to help my thought process. What's this nearby? Ah, just the thing!

This is an LDPW (Linden Department of Public Works) municipal structure, providing vital services to our fair city.

Vital ... I could not agree more ... Banana Sundae, Raspberry Ripple, Strawberry Surprise ... Mint Chocolate Chip. Sold!

Bay City Cruis'n


Driving around Bay City, as I am wont to do, I occasionally meet other people. One such encounter had me giving a fellow explorer with a broken down car a ride to a repair shop. On the way I was told of a ship located where one would not normally expect to see such a thing.

Any excuse for a road trip, eh? I had to find this "ship."

On the way I found ...

Mesh fashions for men and women, with an Asian flair. BoM, Classic and Maitreya avatar types can wear the styles found here, which include some costumes and professional business attire.
As nice as it is to find clothing shop, it was not my primary reason for being in this section of the city.

My destination was a parcel located in Bay City - Tanelorn, south of Victoria Place road, just over the canal before entering Bay City - Moloch. Onward!
Who: Yaro Pinion
What: Southern Pines Cove

That's no moon ... er ... ship. It's a stage!

It looks suspiciously nautical, but it is at the end of the road and way high up from the nearby water.

This old wooden ship is where artist, builder, entrepreneur, poet and live SL performer and songwriter Yaro Pinion practices and performs on an impromptu basis.

Classic rock and country covers, along with original works, are delivered using a 12-string Rickenbacker 360 guitar accompanied by a DigiTech Vocalist 4 harmonizer.

Bay City Cruis'n



I was heading in a westerly direction with no particular destination in mind. My mind was elsewhere. Rounding a corner I recognized a building that I have visited in the past. It seemed appropriate to visit it once more.

The Bay City Municipal Pool, also known as the Crystal Blue Pool, is named in honor of Ever (Crystal) Dreamscape and BlueGin Yifu, with additional decorative touches honoring Hyper Mole.

This addition to Bay City's scene appeared in early 2016.

What use is a pool if you have no suitable apparel? This is a question that required an answer. Fortunately, that answer was nearby.

Bay City Cruis'n

Left, right, left, right, right. What am I doing? Opening a safe? Anyway, I found myself at the end of a road. OK, so I was more off the road than on a road. The point is I found something interesting to investigate. Open the car door ... I've got to oil that ...
Who: Garden Mole
What: Farpoint Park
Follow Park Place road northeast, to where it makes the final easterly turn heading towards the Bay City Fairgrounds. At that bend in the road is a path leading off to the left. Take that path and you'll find a nicely landscaped park complete with benches, a fountain and telescopes that give you a view of the nearby water.
After being mesmerized, for who knows how long, by the glowing thingey that is part of the water feature I finally noticed a nearby structure.

What: Molesworth Pointe

This is a fine example of the citizens of Bay City seeing a need and responding. Without this beacon in the dark, the mariners of our waters would otherwise be in peril of shipwreck.

Bay City Cruis'n

It was late, and it was dark. Very dark. And yet I continued driving around Bay City. Where was I headed? I don't remember ...

It's time to take a break. Stopped, I glanced down a street and saw "Coffee." I'd prefer a hot chocolate, but decided to investigate anyway.

What: Ukiyo
I found myself in a neighborhood of small buildings collectively named "Ukiyo" -- meaning a “floating world” which attempts to impart a feeling of being present and mindful of the current moment, unbothered by stress.

Ah, mindful of the current moment ... where are the snacks? Oh, there they are!
Light was returning to the sky as I exited a sweets shop. Immediately adjacent to Ukiyo was something interesting. A train?

What: The Anchor Bar
It's not a train, it's an establishment with a hollow train used as a performance stage. The theme is "Party Everyday."

What I really enjoyed finding were the various multi-player games strewn about. Checkers, Chess, Crossword, Truth or Dare, and some unique Mad Pea games as well.

Bay City Cruis'n

Road trips and food; the two go together.

As I found myself in Bay City - Sandwich, a subliminal message reached my brain and resulted in pangs of hunger.

I had to take action.

What: White Castle Hamburgers

A popular 98-year-old franchise in the United States is this chain of fast food restaurants.


They've got a menu full of choices for the weary traveler, but are famously known for their unique style of hamburgers that have holes punched into the meat patties.

Buy 'em by the "Sack" is their motto.
And, directly adjacent, some competition ...

With plenty of parking available, here you can quench your thirst with a Voss Frozen Soda while enjoying a Cornfield Dog along with some Mahulu Fries. For dessert the famous Lunar Pie is served in big slices.

This structure is also an example of some of Pygar's building skills (serving Bay City since 2012). He can create made-to-order buildings and accessories for you.

It's the start of a new year, and the start of a new decade (or not a new decade, depending on your interpretation).


Anyway ... this got me to thinking about "newbies."

And nothing is newbie-er than the two places I visited on this spin around town.

"An Infohub, also known as a Welcome Area, is a place where Residents congregate and socialize, and there are usually kiosks providing Second Life information. Infohubs can be fun places to hang out and learn about the world if you're new, although silly stuff happens on occasion."

This particular Infohub has some food trucks that dispense various items: Bay City Burger Coach (burgers and Grubweiser), Sugar Rush (sweet treats), and What The Fried? (fried everything).
