SL19B On Fire!

The 19th Second Life birthday (SL19B) celebrations ended in disaster. Fire destroyed most of the Bay City exhibit.

Fire Starts

Security camera footage showed that the fire started at the Bay City exhibit. The fire spread around the exhibit like, wild fire setting ablaze all the regions. During the fire nobody was near yet some claim to have heard loud laughing in a high pitched voice running away.

The Bay City fire department (BCFD) was alarmed and scrambled to the struck place to save as much as possible.

BCFD Scrambles

The last footage of the security camera, before it melted, was a view of a red hot gear that appeared to be spinning.

Red Hot Gear

The Bay City police department (BCPD) managed to retrieve the, still hot, gear with a giant helicopter, for further investigations.

Gear Transported To Bay City

The analysis so far was inconclusive. It is possible that the gear wasn't oiled enough and spinned out of control. Sabotage as a cause can not be ruled out.

Analysis By The BCPD

The fire was mostly put out by the BCFD however the damage was beyond repair. All around regions crashed making recovery of exhibits near impossible.

The mayori (TINM) states

"There was significant damage to the north (left hand) side of the structure, right above the wall discussing the Caledon Cold War. Aside from the obvious fire and other damage, everything seemed in place. We did not recover the "Caledon Cares" box, however, but I assume that may have been lost in the fire. We couldn't do much on site, as we had to disassemble the build and pack out. We did save this gear for examination, as it seemed relevant."

This newspaper will keep you up-to-date on further developments.

Police and Fire Blotter

May 3rd
Panic ensued as the Bay City History Pavilion vanished from sight. Local residents were seen running around Dennis and shouting, the phrase most often heard was "Not Again, Roc!!" A team of experts led by the Mayori was quickly able to coax the Grid into giving back the building. No prims were harmed during this incident, though rumours have spread about G'al being owed a sacrifice.

A fire broke out during a routine launch from the Bay City Space Program in Sconset. The Bay City Fire Department was watching from the Canal and was able to respond quickly to prevent the fire from spreading. The launch was a success, and the fire was put out by the BCFD without any further harm to residents.

The Bay City Coast Guard issued a warning for boaters and fishermen in Sconset. The Bay City Space Program was issued a citation after dumping a large volume of chemicals into the canals after a disaster struck during the last rocket launch. City Officials are investigating. The Bay City Space Program has promised to fix any issues before the next launch.

May 17th
Route 66 was shut down for a short time during Bay City's 12th Anniversary parade. Partiers gathered from all across the Grid to watch the Parade from the Fairgrounds and viewing stations set up along the route. Most of the marchers in the Parade suffered from crossing crashes, but quickly recovered without any injuries. A single incident of someone attempting to interfere with the Parade was quickly dealt with by the Sansara National Guard.

May 25th
The Canals near Dennis were swarmed as local residents gathered to catch a glimpse of a rare spotted dolphin. Local authorities urge residents to give the animal space, and avoid congesting the canals. Researchers with the Bay City Port Authority were admittedly baffled over the appearance of the animal, as such species are not native to our part of the Grid. Theories range from a climate shift caused by Bellisseria, to this being a plot by the Mole People.

Bay City Impressions: Ever's Night

It was expected, despite all the warnings, the precautions and the Bay City Fire Department, Ever's Night passed through our Fine City as a tornado of raging fires leaving a trail of destruction and breath taking smoke.

Only people that are insured can try and get a refund from their agent (be insured!). The rest have to rebuild prim by prim.

Following impressions from Ever's Night. We had to hand-pick from the many many pictures that were submitted to the editor of this Fine Newspaper. Thank you all for your contributions!
