Storm At The Rumble

Rumble Takeoff!
Last Thursday, despite a mild storm, the airplane rumble continued. The start at at airport Hau Koda was without much problems as the planes took to the sky on their way to Abbotts.

One of the airplanes was the Bay City Postal Service that had a truckload of mail and parcels with it. The pilot was Postmaster Thomas Hooker combining work with pleasure. Kinnaird sat in the back, taking picures.

Half way to Abbotts, near Luna Point, winds started to pick up, a storm was brewing.

With a tailwind the Bay City Postal Service machine, a modern Douglas DC-3, went like lightning so fast.

Coming near Abbotts the pilot slammed on the brakes, without much effect as the airplane was still in the air and heavy loaded.

The only way to reduce speed was to wiggle wobble towards the airport hoping to loose speed, or go-around. Since the postal service is always in a hurry a go-around was not an option.

The pilot screamed into the mike "GIVE ME ROOM!" as the machine came hurtling towards the tarmac. The other machines of the rumble went well out of the way of the doomed machine.

Just as planned...

With a magic wiggle wobble the pilot landed the machine sideways on the runway (some luck might have been involved). After that the passenger ran towards the restroom for some needed R and R.

Some mainlanders will receive a parcel with broken goods inside.

The airport at Hau Koda is often full, delaying planned departs. For that the Bay city counsel has proposed to build an additional airport at Moose Beach. Citizens from Shermerville and Molesworth have united to fight this proposal threatening to take it to the highest court. They fear an increase of airplane traffic and noise pollution. City counsel suggested "plug your ears with a prim".

Airport at Moose Beach planned?

The Bay City Alliance organizes every week on Thursday a rumble. Everybody is invited. Keep an eye out for announcements in the Bay City Alliance group or ask someone from Bay City. The rumble starts mostly around 7 PM SLT. A more Europe friendly time has been tried but wasn't much of a success.

The rumbles are races with planes, trains & automobiles, and boats. Join us!

[edit: the Zoom meeting we used to make this report had a few hiccups. The original report mentions Kinn as the pilot, it was Thomas. No pizza for the reporter! (Vick)]

Police and Fire Blotter

October 2nd
In an act that saw several concerned citizens contact the Bay City Post, the Chief of Police was seen driving around town in a brand new car. To solve the mystery of how the Chief could afford this vehicle and if the BCPD's Annual Budget increase had anything to do with it, we at the Bay City Post reached out to Chief Hooker for comment. "The car was purchased due to a second job in Bellisseria and a small loan from the Bank of Bay City. Revenue from parking tickets did not go towards the purchase. That is saved to support Bela's donut habit.."

October 4th
Rescue Teams were spotted racing towards Abbotts Airport after a Pilot with the Sansara National Guard crash landed on the roof of the terminal. The pilot was able to land the helicopter without injuring herself or any of the onlookers at the nearby SLCG station. The cause of the crash has not been determined, though initial reports indicate an engine fire caused by lag.
October 15th
Once again, a local resident was seen planning an invasion of Bellisseria. While the resident escaped back to Bay City, reports of increased patrols by the Bellisseria National Guard have been received. Neither the resident or the Bellisseria National Guard could be reached for comment.
October 18th
A local resident was arrested in Bellisseria after attempting to play Whackamole with the actual moles. Bay City Diplomats were able to secure his release after explaining that the Moles shouldn't have been popping up randomly in the region "Whackamole" if they didn't want people to take it as a suggestion.

October 26th
Sections of Route 66 were closed for a short time as a Driver's of SL Grid Drive landed at Hau Koda and began a trek to visit the Hallowe'en Hay Maze at the Fairgrounds. Officers with the BCPD and BCFD Paramedics were on hand to rescue anyone who became lost in the maze or needed medical assistance due to the scary sights within.
October 27th
The Bay City Civil Defense sirens sounded as the Grid slowly ground to a halt. Residents were advised to seek shelter, refrain from rezzing objects, and to remain logged in if possible. Several residents disappeared as servers went down. The Bay City Police Department, Bay City Fire Department, and the Sansara National Guard kept our city secured as the Lindens works for hours on a fix to the issue. Service was eventually restored and the BCCD sounded the All Clear.

Group Sacrifice Inside Mount G'al

For some time now out world doesn't work the way it is intended. Crossing regions, the feed and other things are failing often lately.
Marianne McCann has identified a probable cause about a week ago. We must honour and feed Mount G'al!

For that she called out everybody she knows, even more, to join her in a special, lethal, ceremony. Following are some images and a transcript of Marianne her words. It might be shocking for some (viewer discretion is advised).

A large group of people is gathered inside Mount G'al (because LL still hasn't fixed the lethality of Mount G'al despite my ticket).
Marianne McCann (alive)
In awe we see Marianne dressed in a ceremonial cloak and a burning, smoking, hat on her head.

[12:00] Marianne McCann shouts: My friends, we live in dark times.
[12:00] Marianne McCann shouts: We are gathered this day, atop Mt G'al to do our solemn duty.

[12:00] Marianne McCann shouts: As it was written in the days of Phil, by esteemed explorer Magellan Linden, sacrifices must be made regularly at Mt G'al, lest the Grid face Her wrath.
[12:01] Marianne McCann shouts: The nearby infohub, and New Citizens Incorporated have supplied and prepared fresh noobs for years for this very purpose.
[12:01] Marianne McCann shouts: We live in a time where a great gridquake has seen the continent of Bellisaria rise from beneath the void sea, delivering the promise of new life -- and new noobs -- upon the grid.
[12:01] Marianne McCann shouts: The Great Volcano Goddess, G'al hungers in anticipation — and she rages, finding her fiery stomach, so far, empty.
[12:01] Marianne McCann shakes her arms to highlight her point
The volcano rumbles, the earth beneath our feet trembles.

[12:02] Marianne McCann: Our teleports fail, our region crossings are brutish, and we often find ourselves lost to the grid when we log in.
[12:02] Marianne McCann shouts: Some of us even end up logged out, for no reason, just a few minutes after we enter the world.

[12:03] Marianne McCann shouts: Even now, as we meet this day, the Second Life feeds fail us, leaving us unable to share this glorious moment.
[12:03] Marianne McCann shouts: The skies appear darker, and the stars themselves are like black hole suns.
The volcano rumbles louder, we almost fall due to the trembling.

Tish (Laetizia Coronet) calls out, from her helicopter far above, not to jump and drink tea.

[12:03] Marianne McCann shouts: The Enhancement of our environment is making it difficult to enjoy the wind in our light.
[12:04] Marianne McCann shouts: Today, we meet for the Greater Good!
[12:04] Marianne McCann: The Greater Good!

The group chants loudly "The Greater Good!", "The Greater Good!", "The Greater Good!"

[12:04] Marianne McCann shouts: To each of you assembled here today, I must call upon you to make the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of the Grid -- and take a flying leap!

As in trance we see Marianne jump into the lava....and vanish.... many follow....

[12:05] Marianne McCann left chat range.
[12:05] Vick Forcella: Oh my

Solo Anatra made another sacrifice. She went to the Toxic Taco.

For a more complete transcript you can visit Sylvia Tamalyn her Flickr page.

Now that so many have given Mount G'al the ultimate sacrifice we can expect our world to become normal again soon.
Edit to add number one
Check out the sacrifice of Belle Mistwallow.  Jumping into a volcano can be art.
Edit to add number two
Tish (Laetizia Coronet) while hovering, in great danger, above Mount G'al made the following tweet:
"Taking huge risks, the SNG Military Police tried to stop members of the G'al sect from jumping into Mount G'al. Sadly, they blindly followed cult leader Marianne McCann to their death"
