Community offers up a new pavilion at the SL22B event!
BAY CITY, SL (20 June, 2025) - Bay City Presents their annual pavilion at the SL22B Exhibitor Showcase titled, "Tall Tales of Bay City" atSLB Enchant.
Echoing the SL22B theme, Myths and Legends, Bay City is hosting several lighthearted shadowboxes of their biggest tall tales. The artworks, created and hand-drawn by Marianne McCann, feature both moving images and accompanying stories.
Downstairs, the exhibit includes general information about the city, including a relief map of the city created by Erik Mondrian, and an exhibit of event posters from the current year. You can also find many fun free items, including press pennies, souvenir plates, and decorative pinback buttons celebrating the exhibit and Bay city itself.
The SL22B event, a celebration of the 22nd anniversary of Second Life ending its beta period, is hosting the Exhibitor Showcase, an area spanning 19 regions, and featuring over 500 exhibitors and 250+ exhibits. The event runs from 20 June to 20 July.
Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life® and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest Bay City group, and home to most Residents of Bay City.
The 19th Second Life birthday (SL19B) celebrations ended in disaster. Fire destroyed most of the Bay City exhibit.
Fire Starts
Security camera footage showed that the fire started at the Bay City exhibit. The fire spread around the exhibit like, wild fire setting ablaze all the regions. During the fire nobody was near yet some claim to have heard loud laughing in a high pitched voice running away.
Bay City Exhibition On Fire
The Bay City fire department (BCFD) was alarmed and scrambled to the struck place to save as much as possible.
BCFD Scrambles
The last footage of the security camera, before it melted, was a view of a red hot gear that appeared to be spinning.
Red Hot Gear
The Bay City police department (BCPD) managed to retrieve the, still hot, gear with a giant helicopter, for further investigations.
Gear Transported To Bay City
The analysis so far was inconclusive. It is possible that the gear wasn't oiled enough and spinned out of control. Sabotage as a cause can not be ruled out.
Analysis By The BCPD
The fire was mostly put out by the BCFD however the damage was beyond repair. All around regions crashedmaking recovery of exhibits near impossible.
The mayori (TINM) states
"There was significant damage to the north (left hand) side of the structure, right above the wall discussing the Caledon Cold War. Aside from the obvious fire and other damage, everything seemed in place. We did not recover the "Caledon Cares" box, however, but I assume that may have been lost in the fire. We couldn't do much on site, as we had to disassemble the build and pack out. We did save this gear for examination, as it seemed relevant."
This newspaper will keep you up-to-date on further developments.

Virtual Escape SL is a getaway to meet up with friends or make new friends from around the world. At times like this, we are bombarded daily with stress and bad news. Choose positivity ~ choose SecondLife

Aurie gives a personal description of what Second Life does to her.
Shown is a generic house, transparent, we can look inside.
There stands a TV showing pictures of the confused world of today. Dark thoughts hover, in a random way, around the TV in the form of spheres. dark, stress, loneliness, despair, fear, anxiety, bullying, illness, poverty
Next is a computer running Second Life.
On an even pane coloured thoughts hover around it colours, togetherness, diversity, creativity, humour, love, friendship, hope, respect of the earth
From the computer comes a strong beam ending in two arms and hands that hold the world that emits a rainbow.
Rocket City Rocket City is a G-rated community that's safe and welcoming to everyone. It's run by a group of furries, but it's welcome to anyone and everyone.

We have seen Rocket City last year at SL16B.
This year the contribution of Rocket City is more laid back. A campfire and some logs around it. Oh, and a rocket.
Beware, there can be dragons! (friendly beasts)
Welcome to the eightyeighth edition of the Bay City Post!
Keeping you updated on the best city on the grid!
During the war, that I have not experienced, the constant fear was The knock on the door, they are coming for you. It is a fear that is experienced every day by many people today. If, like me, you don't have that fear, know you are fortunate.
I have seen the CEO of the company I have worked for several times. After I changed jobs I have seen a janitor that was a mirror image of that CEO. At first I thought it was the same person. Even after talking to the man, that was cleaning the floor, I wasn't sure. Turned out they are not the same, not even related. Point being, appearance tells absolutely nothing about the person. We do not live in a TV show where the crook looks like a crook and the good guy looks like a good guy.
Your reporters were hard at work last month to gather all the information you need and want.
Bay City's 12th Anniversary, a great success!
The anniversary was fun and you were missed! So, for you, we compiled as many images we could find and pored them into a somewhat coherent story.
On May the fifth, at Imaginario, there has been a sudden invasion of Sylvia's.
Please be aware, you are not seeing double. Run while you can!
Sylvia's
SL17BD
Preparations have started. Bay City will participate. We all hope that Argon will approve of what will be presented this time. The theme for this year is Road Trips and Vacation. The Second Life Birthday events will open June 19th, and will run to July the 10th. Monitor the Bay City Alliance group for notifications.
EbbeBD
On May the 7th Ebbe Altberg celebrated his birthday. If you missed that, no cake for you, wait for next year. Happy birthday Ebbe!
(Interesting fact about Ebbe, his name is pronounced in English as Ebbi)
NeoToy, Return to Bay City
Neo was live steaming for nearly two hours. A re-visit of Bay City, or was it? See the video here. It's worth to see it completely.
Last name chance causes confusion
It has happened to me twice. Someone logged in, apparently a friend, why else did I get a notification? But who could it be? The name sounded alien to me.
I opened the profile. Some things looked familiar. In my inventory I searched the expected name and found the calling card. I opened it and was presented with the new name and a profile of that person.
A good reason to start and IM. "Stranger, I do not know you, who are you??"
A sailing blog
Sailing in SL is quite amazing. I have no idea how it feels in real life but in SL you can almost feel the splatter of water hitting your face. It is a great way to be away for a while.
If you like sailing and like to be updated, or if you have never sailed in SL, then check out Liv Leigh her blog. Some good hints and tips there!
1920 Berlin project, 11th anniversary!
The project, started and maintained by Yo Yardley, has passed it's 11th anniversary. The project is a recreation of the atmosphere of 1920 Berlin with some of it's unique buildings. A time when the world didn't stop partying. The project has strict Role Play rules. Well worth a visit if you can dress properly.
Happy Anniversary 1920's Berlin!
Some unique images were created for the Bay City contribution for the 16th birthday of Second Life. To preserve them, I took pictures.
